Brazed Plate Heat Exchangers

The TPL series ​The TPL series brazed plate heat exchangers is a special development for the demands in mechanical engineering and plant engineering (such as for cooling of hydraulic oil and motor oil).   Compared to units with conventional heat exchanger plates, the TPL volume of the flow gap is up to 80 % larger.  Very high heat transfer rates are obtained using special turbulence sheets inserted in the flow gaps and thermodynamically highly efficient diagonal media flow in combination with maximum diameter connections. Variable design options of these elements allow for optimal adaptation to different applications.  Due to the efficient performance of FRIGOTHERM’s TPL series for media with higher viscosities, the unit can be of a much smaller size compared to conventional plate heat exchangers!  By special request the connections can be on the end plate or on the front and end plate. ​The brazed plate heat exchanger TPL series presents unique advantages, first and foremost of which is the achievement of a high heat transfer rate at a low pressure loss.  The thermodynamically and hydraulically optimised alignment of the turbulence sheets generates high turbulent flow rates even at low volume flows.  This allows for efficient use of the heat exchange area available and leads to perfectly optimised heat transfer.  The high turbulent flow also results in an efficient self-cleaning effect, which greatly reduces maintenance and time-out. As the whole surface of the plates is coated with solder, the resulting brazing allows for a higher integrity joint.  Thus, stresses arising from, for example, variations in pressure or temperature, can be absorbed more effectively compared to conventional brazed plate heat exchangers where only single dots of solder are applied. Application conditions - For the TPL types 00 and 01 the maximum operating pressure is 36 bar, while it is 30 bar for the TPL 02 type.  For all three types the maximum operating temperature is 195 °C. Construction - ​The comapny’s brazed plate heat exchangers series TPL is basically made of non-corrugated stainless steel plates.  In the flow gaps special stainless steel turbulence sheets with high thermal efficiency are inserted.  These are brazed to the basic plates to create a firm and pressure-resistant unit. ​Variable designs of the inserts and the thermodynamically highly efficient diagonal media flow in the flow gaps allow for optimal adaptation to different applications.  By special request, the connections can be on the end plate or on the front- and end plate. Media - Copper brazed plate heat exchangers TPL are mainly used for media such as: Oil and oil containing fluids, Glycol mixtures, Alcohols, Refrigerants, Gas / air, Water, and Many more (according to media properties and its viscosity). Materials - For the plates as a standard stainless steel 1.4401 / AISI 316 or 1.4301 / AISI 304 is used and the solder is copper.  For the series NPL the solder is nickel. Mounting - Extended end plate. Angular feet. Importantly, angular feet are only used for units with a minimum weight of approximately 10 kg. Insulation (optional) - Heat insulation -  Box with mineral wool with a long-term thermal stability of up to 200 °C.  Outer casing made of AL- Stucco. ​Cold insulation -  Diffusion tight insulation on the basis of nitrile rubber with a long-term thermal stability from - 40 °C up to 105 °C.  Available as self-adhesive multiple part set. The new TPLB series completes FRIGOTHERM’s existing wide range of brazed plate heat exchangers.  The devices are made of 100 % stainless steel. ​Along with copper and nickel brazed devices the TPLB series distinguishes itself through exceptional quality, superior thermodynamic performance and a long lifespan. Applications for the TPLB series are manifold; they can even be used with highly corrosive media or heat-transfer oil in special applications such as in chemical plants or laboratories. Its main field of application is HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning).  These brazed plate heat exchangers guarantee maintenance-free operation as system separation in cycles such as distant heating, solar engineering and heat pumps as well as in floor heating or domestic water heating. These stainless steel brazed plate heat exchangers are suitable for drinking water.  The special state-of-the-art brazing method of FRIGOTHERM’s TPLB series prevents undesired reactions to copper or nickel ions dissolved in the water, thus limiting the contents of these non-ferrous metals in drinking water.  In addition, these brazed plate heat exchangers are suitable for the application with special cooling media in which Cu-content is not allowed. Technical data - ​100 % stainless steel. Operating pressure max.:  14 bar (standard), higher pressure available on request. Operating temperatures max.: - 196 °C to + 195 °C (standard). CE-certified. Application conditions - ​For the TPLB types 00, 01 and 02 the maximum operating pressure is 14 bar and the maximum operating temperature is 195 °C. Special design series NPL Its construction and function are identical to the GPL and GPLK series.  Deviant is the solder, which in this case is nickel.
